When I was a little kid I’d love to wear my Father’s shoes and shirt and drag myself through the whole house, bragging about how easily I could do it; an attempt to make myself feel big enough to do so 😀 . Well, if not big enough, that attempt did successfully trip me down to the ground every time I tried it 😛 My Father used to laugh it off and think of me as the cutest little brat he had ever created 😉
Today after a decade, I did attempt to carry out the same task of wearing my Father’s Kurta/Jhabba, styled it a bit and stood in front of him. He had his eyes moist and was speechless.
“To a father growing old nothing is dearer than a daughter” ~ Euripides.
And today I understood what this quote actually meant. Gazing at me happily, styling his huge Kurta with confidence and carrying the whole outfit well (without tripping down 😉 ) he said, “Majhi mulgi mothi jhali!”(My girl has grown up!). Both of us sat there hugging each other with tears rolling down for a while. Well, it is righteously said that; “A daughter may outgrow your lap but she’ll never outgrow your heart”.
Every father sets the highest bar of standards for any other guy to match it for his daughter. I doubt that I’ll ever be able to find anyone who would match you. I love you Baba, always and forever.
So this “Father’s day” week, I start by sporting my Father’s kurta/Jhabba (as he calls it) with a mix of his Daughter’s styling 😉
I have worn:
A Fabindia Men’s Khadi Kurta paired with a thin brown belt in a knot.
A leather Sling bag by Caprese and a pair of Navy blue wedges by Regal Shoes.
